Curriculum licensing: Aceable ($200/mo) vs. I Drive Safely ($150/mo)
Both cover the identical 1-60 employee range in our data, so unlike the scheduling decision, this one has nothing to do with school size. It comes down to two things: which curriculum is approved in the states you operate in, and which relationship the school already has. I Drive Safely is $50/mo cheaper for materially the same job — licensed, state-approved online driver's-ed content the school white-labels for the classroom portion of teen driver-ed. The failure mode: a school keeps paying for Aceable because a previous owner set it up, without ever checking whether I Drive Safely's approved curriculum would cover the same states for $50/mo less.

In-car monitoring: Lytx ($250/mo)
Lytx is the pillar's most expensive single line item and the easiest to buy for the wrong reason. It's dash-cam-based driver monitoring that flags risky student maneuvers for instructor coaching and gives the school a documented record if an incident becomes a liability question. The common mistake: schools sign up right after an insurance renewal scare, then nobody actually reviews the flagged footage or coaches on it — at which point $250/mo is paying for a camera nobody watches, with none of the coaching value it was bought for.
In our integration data, Lytx and both curriculum providers (Aceable, I Drive Safely) list DSS as their integration point — none of the three lists TEDS. A school running TEDS for scheduling should confirm current connectivity directly with the vendor before assuming footage or curriculum-completion data syncs automatically.

- Is this curriculum approved in every state where you currently enroll students?
- If you switch providers, do currently-enrolled students need to restart or get re-certified mid-course?
- Is the price flat per month, or does it scale with enrolled-student count?
- Does it sync completion data into your scheduling platform, or require manual re-entry?
- If you also run Lytx or another monitoring tool, does the vendor confirm a live integration with your scheduling platform — DSS or TEDS?
- Under 5 instructors, no fleet monitoring need yet: DSS + I Drive Safely = $239/mo for scheduling and curriculum.
- 5+ instructors with online enrollment or DMV audit needs: TEDS + Aceable = $350/mo, if your state specifically requires Aceable's curriculum.
